Our Programs

Since its founding in 1913, Delta Sigma Theta has clearly distinguished itself as a public service organization that boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans. Over the years, a wide range of programs addressing education, health, international development, and strengthening of the African-American family have evolved. In realizing its mission, Delta Sigma Theta provides an extensive array of public service initiatives through its Five-Point program thrust:

Through our Economic Development programmatic thrust, the Raleigh Alumnae Chapter supports the following programs and initiatives:

The focus of the International Awareness thrust is on promoting a better understanding and deeper appreciation for the contributions and struggles of people and cultures different form one’s own. Programs include:

Political Awareness

The first public act performed by Delta Founders involved their participation in the Women’s Suffrage March in Washington D.C., March 1913. Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated in 1930.  Since 1913, we continually strive to promote social activism in our local communities. Programs include:

Delta Sigma Theta is a non-profit organization, no part of the Sorority’s activities shall be for propaganda purposes or otherwise attempting to influence legislation in a lobbying role. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. conducts all of its activities in accordance with the rules that govern organizations whose tax status is 501(c)(7).
